Virender Sehwag Would Be Instructed To Keep His Mouth Shut If Appointed As Head Coach

Virender Sehwag will be asked to keep his mouth shut if appointed as the Head Coach of the Indian cricket team, a source has told Deccan Chronicle.
“Yes, Viru is outspoken on social media. But then, if he is appointed, he would be instructed to keep his mouth shut. Our fear is that he would just say, ‘so what?’, if India loses a match or a series. That would surely ruffle the feathers of important people,” a source said.
Sehwag is known to be one of the outspoken cricketers who speaks his heart out in the public. One of the incidents was seen when he publically criticised the members of his IPL franchise Kings XI Punjab for the team failing to qualify for the second round of the tournament.
He straightway blamed the foreign players and blasted their incompetency to perform at the crucial stage. His nature is also expressed in his tweets, where he is one of the famous personalities on social media. (Read Here: Virat Kohli Persuaded Sehwag To Apply For Head Coach Job)
There is a fear among the board that Sehwag might continue to work in the same manner as he is now, being outspoken. If this happens, then the same sort of thing can happen with Sehwag and Kohli, which happened between the previous coach Kumble and the skipper. There may be a case when the skipper may not like what Sehwag might say, analysing the performance of the Indian cricket team.
Hence, the board is already taking the steps foreseeing the future events, even before the board is yet to announce the new coach. (Read Here: Ravi Shastri To Apply For The Head Coach Job)
Still, the date to apply for the post is open for 10 more days and everyone has a chance to register their name on the list. However, former players are reluctant to go for it due to fear of favouritism, as Ravi Shastri and Virender Sehwag – two of the applicants for the job – are close to Virat Kohli and the board bypassing Kohli’s view will be something that we will not see this time.
The new Head Coach will travel to Sri Lanka with the team, which will be the first assignment in the role. The tour will commence on July 26th.
