Former India batsman VVS Laxman has said that he likes Lionel Messi and wants Argentina to win the world cup. Laxman stated that Brazil is his favorite but since they are out, he is now with Argentina. It is worthwhile to mention that Argentina will take on Germany in the football world cup final tonight.

Laxman said, “I have always been a die-hard fan of the Brazilian football team; their exit from the World Cup has left me shocked. But now I am supporting Argentina. Messi is my favourite footballer and seeing him play is a fun experience. I am super excited to catch the finals tonight.”

He is currently in Kanpur and he added, “Kanpur has always been a lucky venue for me and the Indian cricket team, because whenever we have played in Kanpur we won. Except for once, when we lost the test against Pakistan. It’s too hot today, but visiting the city in winters has always been a pleasure for me. Green Park used to be one of the favourite stadiums for cricketers.”

“Cricket has always been my passion, and it’s true that announcing my retirement was not easy. It was a really tough decision. But after playing for almost 16 long years for Team India I decided to call it quits. I feel that I took the decision at an apt time. I also feel that retirement is a natural progression in any field, because after delivering your best you have to vacate the place for juniors, so that they can also get the chance to show their skills.”
