Pakistan’s Head Coach Waqar Younis said on Tuesday that team’s determination, dedication and discipline had been the important factors to the their first series win over Australia in 20 years. Pakistan humiliated Australia in both tests winning the first one by 221 runs and the second by 356 runs.
During an interview with AFP, Waqar said:
“I am pleased with this win. The determination, dedication and discipline led to the goody goody stuff and credit to the boys for putting up this brilliant show.
“Misbah’s positive frame of mind helped the team and the way he looked at his captaincy and batting inspired other players to do their best.”
Waqar was also high in praise of Younus Khan
, who scored two centuries and a double century to help team register big totals in the series.
“We always knew he has this ability and with his amazing performance he has once again proved that he is an institution and juniors sharing the dressing room with him develop with every moment, hats off to the man.”
Waqar also credited the support staff and said that they played a huge role in boosting up team’s morale after their loss to Sri Lanka and Australia (in ODIs and T20).
“I would also credit my support staff, from Mushtaq Ahmed to Grant Luden to Grant Flower – everyone kept a positive frame of mind, even when we were left frustrated with the results in Sri Lanka,” he said.
