Arguably the greatest fast bowling pair of all time Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis recalled their fond memories of the 1992 Lord’s Test when they won a game for Pakistan with the bat, pretty unlike their usual style of winning games for Pakistan. The two great pacers were at their peak during Pakistan’s tour of England in 1992.
Chasing a modest 141 to win, Pakistan were jolted with wickets one after the other before the two W’s joined in the middle and built a partnership to win the game for Pakistan. It was a sensational come from behind win for Pakistan. Taking to his twitter handle Waqar wrote, ..”My favourite Test match”.Me &The Legend @wasimakramlive won it with the Bat #SweetMemories”.

Akram wasn’t far behind and responded immediately which read, “Those were the days Raqa @waqyounis99 We were fast, furious and fearless.” Indeed the duo was the best exponents of reverse swing at that time and tormented star-studded batting lineups from all over the world. The duo used to send shivers down the opposition batsmen’s spine with their raw pace and ability to generate steep bounce.

While Wasim burst on to the scene in 1984, Waqar made his debut with Sachin Tendulkar in 1989. From there on there was no looking back for them as the duo flourished in bowling in tandem. They were brilliant new ball bowlers and had the ability to reverse swing when the ball was old which made them every condition bowlers.
Meanwhile, the duo was also involved in an unpleasant interaction on twitter a few months ago after Wasim had revealed how Waqar had planned to deny Anil Kumble his 10th wicket in the infamous Feroz Shah Kotla Test. Wasim said that Waqar had walked up to him in between the overs and asked how about getting run out to deny Kumble the 10th wicket. Akram had apparently said that if he was destined to take the wicket he would.
Waqar replying to Akram said that this thing never happened and age might be catching up with Wasim to which Wasim again replied that if he goes down the age road then he will beat Waqar every time.
