The famous saying – ‘Catches win matches’ was once proved right when Fabian Allen took an absolute blinder to change the course of the match between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL on Sunday (August 6). The modern-day cricket has witnessed several astonishing catches on the boundary ropes but Allen’s catch probably tops them all. The stunning grab is certainly going to set new standards in outfield acrobatics. In fact, the catch was so unbelievable that Ian Bishop had to say that it was the best he had ever seen.
Chasing a modest target of 133, Guyana Amazon Warriors were cruising with the scoreboard reading 102 for 3 after 16 overs. With a well-set Jason Mohammad and Gajanand Singh looking good, the Warriors were looking set to chase down the total before the former sliced one over the covers. The ball was looking destined to cross the boundary rope but Fallen had some other ideas as he ran a good few yards before diving full length to his left side and plucking the ball out of thin air. What made the catch even more spectacular was that the ball was dipping and at the same time he had to avoid making a contact with the rope.

The catch turned out to be decisive as the Warriors suffered a collapse and were restricted to 128 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs.
