With Steve Smith and Glenn Maxwell going strong during the first session of the second day in Ranchi, the hosts needed some wickets to claw their way back into the contest. And one of India’s most impressive bowlers in recent times, Ravindra Jadeja rose to the occasion. Firstly, he dismissed the centurion Maxwell before breaking the 64-run partnership between Smith and Mathew Wade by dismissing the latter and three runs later, the left-arm spinner dismissed Pat Cummins with a gem of a delivery that helped India share the honours of the opening session.

Cummins, who is playing his first Test after almost six years, tried to offer a dead bat to the delivery which pitched on the middle stump. However, he completely missed to make any contact with the ball as it flew past his edge and went on to hit the top of the off-stump.

Here is a clip of that dismissal:

Meanwhile, Australia were 401 for 7 at lunch. Smith is batting on 153 while Steve O’Keefe is giving him company on 1.

An avid sports lover, i always wanted to pursue a career in football. But just like the millions out there i did not put in the hard work needed to achieve my dream and now i have become a fan instead of the player. Anyway, writing for sports has kept me closer to this field. One more thing, yours sincerely is a die-hard Liverpool fan.
    You will never walk alone.
