Giving yet another account of his immense potential on the field, South Africa’s star Temba Bavuma took a stunning one-handed catch on the second day of the ongoing Test against Bangladesh to add to his already impressive haul of fielding exploits.
The 27-year old, who sensational run-out to send back David Warner last year is still fresh in every cricket fan’s mind, was standing at gully when Mushfiqur Rahim cut a Duanne Olivier delivery off the backfoot The ball was travelling at a good pace and was looking primed to reach the boundary ropes. However, Bavuma made a full-length dive to his right and caught the ball with one hand, leaving even himself stunned with the unbelievable grab. He was soon mobbed by his teammates who too could not stop smiling at that outstanding catch.
Here is a clip of the ripper:
Speaking after the second day’s play, Bangladesh batsman Liton Das had admitted that Bavuma’s ‘superlative catch’ changed the momentum of the innings. The visitors were 39 for two before Bavuma took the catch and kept on losing wickets at regular intervals before being all out for a paltry 147 in reply to South Africa’s first-innings total of 573.
“I think it (the dismissal) changed the momentum,” Liton said on Saturday (October 7). “Bavuma took a superlative catch and at times a catch can change the momentum totally. He is one of our best batsman and when he gets out in this manner certainly it adds pressure,” he added.
