Watch: Wicket-Keeper Deliberately Lets Batsman Escape A Dismissal

The game of cricket has always seen some really weird and funny incidents take place. Sometimes, we laugh at it and sometimes we just scratch our heads thinking – What just happened?

A Nepali wicketkeeper, who is yet to be identified, committed a very similar act that left many viewers dumbfounded.

Collecting a throw from the third man is one of the most trivial things that a wicket keeper does. They do it all the times. And, clipping the bails of the stumps is even simpler. They keeping shadow practising after each collected throws. But, when the determination to influence the results is sky high, common sense has to be thrown out of the equation.

This Nepali wicketkeeper was supremely committed to doing the same during a local tournament in Nepal.

He had the best opportunity to get a batsman run out at his end but let the chance slip away deliberately and that too in the dumbest fashion.

In the clip, he is seen waiting for the throw with (fake) anticipation. The throw arrives at him at the right moment. He has close to two-three second flick off the stumps and completes the dismissal. But, he doesn’t, for some strange reason bets known to him and his teammates.

The batsman, meanwhile, comes running towards the crease and save his wicket.

The amusing part is that the wicket keeper completely failed to hide his intentions of letting the batsman survive. His act was totally awkward and brainless.

Maybe the opposition should try coaxing someone smarter to side with them.

Player do cheat often but that’s generally for the benefit of their team. Umar Akmal once dropped a running catch but pretended to have got hold of it while rolling over. He simply stuck the ball in between his forearms and elbows a started walking towards his teammates showing that the catch was completed. Unfortunately, he completely forgot that he wasn’t playing in the lanes of Pakistan and there was a camera around at the venue.

But, there is nothing weird about it. Such things keep happening. But, what the wicket keeper did was completely beyond logic.
