What would happen to team India if Dhoni quit cricket?

MS Dhoni, the man who dominated international cricket after his 148 against Pakistan in 2005, took the baton of India’s Test captaincy from Anil Kumble and the ODI from Rahul Dravid. He won the 2007 inaugural World T20 victory in South Africa. He won the 50 over Wolrd Cup for India after 28 years of gap. He has also won the 2013 Champions Trophy in England. But, his decline started in 2011 after winning the World Cup. Under his captaincy, India lost two back to back Test series in England and Australia respectively. Criticism ripped apart him. In New Zealand, India got a chance to win a match, but a decision to play for draw  resulted in India’s defeat.

However, in between he won the Champions Trophy. But,  India failed to recover their Test repute. Finally, MS Dhoni quit the captaincy in January this year. After losing the Australia series 2-0; Virat Kohli took over the reins of captaincy while MS Dhoni wanted to concentrate more on limited over cricket. Subsequently, India lost the Tri series involving Australia and England but finished in the semifinal of the 2015 World Cup.

Team India  shockingly lost the ODI series to Bangladesh. Meanwhile, new Test captain Virat Kohli’s team have won the Test series in Sri Lanka. The voice for Virat Kohli’s captaincy in all form of the game has grown louder as Indian team yet to win a match under MS Dhoni after the series defeat in Bangladesh. So, if he decides to take retirement after this ODI series what will happen to team India.
