New Zealand, a team which many people are missing out on from the list of the favorites to win the World Cup 2015, rather a team which may surprise people who are not into cricket. For me, if New Zealand wins this years World Cup, I won’t be surprised. Cricket fans all over are shouting India, Australia and South Africa to win the cup, I would like to add New Zealand to it to with me shouting New Zealand.

The last year, 2014 started off with a flyer for New Zealand, as they beat the defending champions India in a 5 match ODI series, 4-0. Then they continued their form and beat Pakistan at their home in a 5 match ODI series by 3-2. New Zealand are considered under dogs in the 50 over format, however with the World Cup being played in Australia and New Zealand, they have a great chance of being crowned as the champions. The black caps have never previously won a World Cup and neither they have been a part of the finals of any World Cup. This is a great opportunity for them to strike.

The big three of the New Zealand squad, Brendon McCullum, Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor were in tremendous form the last year and if they continue this for the next 3 months, no team can stand a chance against them. The veteran spinner Daniel Vettori has made himself available for the World Cup and on his day, he can become a match winner. All they require is some more players to join the party. The black caps will play a series against South Africa and Pakistan before the start of the World Cup and it is crucial for them to make an impact in that series.

The World Cup will be played in Australia and New Zealand, so it is a great home advantage for the black caps as the home fans will cheer them on field. Moreover, the conditions will well suit them. They were dominant against India at home at the start of the year as well beating them 4-0 comfortably.

The black caps are an under rated team and lifting the World Cup will be an historic moment for them as well as the whole cricketing world.
