Will cherish the IPL for the rest of his life says DD star Chris Morris

South African international and star Delhi Daredevils player Chris Morris in a recent interview said that the effect of the Indian Premier League on his life is overwhelming.

The tall all-rounder was snatched up by the Delhi franchise after a bidding war between the Mumbai Indians, the Kolkata Knight Riders, and the Rising Pune Supergiants. He cost a whole of 7 crore INR in the recent IPL auction making him one of the costliest players this season.

And the 29-year old has already repaid the faith in him by some good performances with the bat and the ball for the Daredevils who find themselves close to a qualification spot this season.

With 11 wickets in the season at an economy of 6.79, Morris has been one of the most impressive bowlers this season and his tremendous knock of 82 against the Gujarat Lions showed what he could do with the bat and why his price reached the 7 crore mark but the brisk bowler said that the price on his name is not what drives him to perform.

He said that his price tag is not the reason for his good performance and that every time he comes out on the field, he is ready to give it his all to try and take his team to victory.

I’m a guy who plays to win so it doesn’t matter what price I go for. If I went for $20,000 I would still put pressure on myself to bowl at the death because it’s what I do. I play cricket to win,” he said recently.

He also spoke about the way the Indian Premier League helped him learn the tricks of the game.

He explained that he was not expecting people to cheer for him as much as they did and that it was humbling to know that the fans are supporting him no matter what his team does.

He said, “It’s very humbling to know that people rate me so highly in terms for a guy who hasn’t played that much international cricket.”

He went on to explain that the IPL has affected his life in a positive way and that the whole IPL experience has been life-changing for him.

“Financially, no one can replace what it’s done because it’s life-changing, no matter who you are. But the cricketing experience is so valuable to my life.”

“Meeting new players, playing with new players, new coaching staff, new franchises,” he added.

The IPL has also helped budding cricketers make a name for themselves and Morris felt that it has been a great platform even for him to showcase his skills and potential.

He felt that it was a great chance for him to reach his best and that he will cherish his time in the competition all his life.

“The IPL is so valuable to my life. I get to mingle with some of my heroes, and some of the best in the world. For a young cricketer or a cricketer in the middle of his career, that is incredibly valuable. I’ll cherish this for the rest of my life,” Morris added.
