The stage is absolutely set for India and Bangladesh to battle it out for the all important final of the T20 Asia Cup. After another emphatic win, this time over UAE, India seem to be an unstoppable unit. They have massacred all the sides coming their way, and it is safe to assume that they are the favorites to lift the title.
However, Indian skipper MS Dhoni is playing it safe, and in the post match interview, said that he wouldn’t take Bangladesh lightly. Dhoni also said that the final would be a good game. “We will have to come in with another big performance in the final. Bangladesh are a good team and they have improved a lot. It should be a good final,” Dhoni said.
Speaking about the need to be consistent, Dhoni said, “We need 15 minutes to learn a bad habit. You need maybe 5-10 games to develop a good habit. It is very important for the guys who played today to keep pushing the selectors and the skipper.
The batting order, only Rahane was left out. More often this is our batting order. We felt it was important to give games to bowlers who have not played so far. There is always scope for improvement. We will have to be consistent in big games.”
Rohit Sharma was named the Man of the Match and he too stressed upon respecting the difficult conditions. “The wickets here have been challenging, not the easiest. I am glad we have put up a performance like that. Initially, you have to see the conditions.
Once you get a hang of it, you can probably play your shots. Shot selection is very important, you play a lot square of the wicket. It is not easy to play on the up to cover, midwicket. It is coming off well,” he said.
