With each day spent in international cricket, the performance graph of Jasprit Bumrah is going high as nowadays, hardly we seem him making mistakes while bowling.

Whether asked to bowl with the new ball or being invited to a ball in the death overs, Bumrah is always ready for the challenge and also fulfils the task with utmost ease. His fortress to bowl accurately in the death overs has already forced Steven Smith, the captain of Australia, to praise the youngster, which also does not come as a surprise as the variations which he which he mixes up is his key to success.

“Working with international bowlers at Mumbai Indians (MI) has helped him a lot. He has been with us (Gujarat) since his under-19 days and we knew then, he had what it takes to play for India,” Vijay Patel, the coach of Gujarat, told Sportstar praising Bumrah.

Even after spending more than one and a half year with the Indian team in limited overs cricket with utmost success, there are no signs of him being given a chance in Test cricket. There are doubts whether he would be given an opportunity in the longest format of the game or not but this is not the first time for him. Even before making his first-class debut, he was first asked to play junior and limited overs cricket, as Gujarat team management was in no hurry to rush this player in Ranji Trophy,

“You could tell from the way he was bowling that he was preparing for elite matches. Bumrah gradually played under-23 but we didn’t want to hurry him into playing Ranji and Duleep trophy matches. Once we thought he was ready, he made his first-class debut in 2013. The same year, he was picked up by MI,” Vijay Patel added.

Bumrah has emerged as one of the best players for Gujarat in both first-class and limited our format, and surely, that experience would help him to continue his run in ODI and T20I cricket before selectors consider him for a place in the Test team as well.

Meanwhile, India have won the five each ODI series against Australia with two games still left. The fourth ODI of the series will be played in Bengaluru whereas the last ODI will be staged in Nagpur. A three-match T20I series will follow the ODI action.
