CWC’15: Few good training days better than many sessions, says Dhoni

Indian Captain MS Dhoni has said that it is better to have few good training sessions rather than having intense training sessions. Dhoni wants their player to be mentally fresh for seven week tournament like the World Cup. India has won three matches so far in the tournament and has played some really good cricket.

The Indian team has been in Australia since the last three months playing Test matches and a tri-series involving England and Australia. In the Test series, the Indian bowlers had to through some tough times and in tri series too, the bowlers looked out of sorts.

In the World Cup 2015, they defeated Pakistan, South Africa and UAE comfortably. This team has batted well scoring 300+ both times and dismissed the opponents. India, who were struggling with injuries and form are currently finding themselves in contenders race. Dhawan has played some great innings scoring 73 and 137 in two matches, Kohli has also scored 46 and 107 in two matches and Rahane also had done well in the match against South Africa. It has been a complete team effort.

In the Test matches, only few batsmen were contributing to the team’s cause and when it came to the big tournament, they stepped their game up to a new level.

The team adopted the same stragery in the World Cup 2011 between training sessions and rest. Dhoni’s team will next match against West Indies on the 6th of March. The bowling also has looked impressive with the likes Shami, Yadav and Mohit Sharma doing their job to perfection. Ashwin and Jadeja have also bowled well also.

The team mangament is adopting a balance between rest and training sessions. They want the team to be fit for the big matches.
