WT20 2016: Hong Kong vs Zimbabwe – Preview

With the match Hong Kong vs Zimbabwe at Nagpur on 8th March 2016, the World T20 2016 will begin. The first round of the tournament will be held from 8th March to 13th March and followed by Super 10 stage from 15th March.

It will be the first T20I meeting between Hong Kong and Zimbabwe. Currently, Zimbabwe is suffering injury crisis as their 3 cricketers have already been ruled out from the tournament. But still the team is looking decent. Zimbabwe skipper Hamilton Masakadza is in very good form at the moment. The main problem of the Zimbabwe cricket team is their inconsistency. The players will need to be consistent as well as the fielding needs to be improved for earning good results in this tournament. Still, Zimbabwe is one of the favourite team in this group.

On the other hand, one of the new international team Hong Kong’s main barrier is their inexperience. Despite their inexperience, they showed their fighting spirit in recent games, however, they went winless in the recently concluded Asia Cup T20 qualifiers.

In the last WT20 in 2014, Hong Kong stunned the world cricket after beating Bangladesh in Bangladesh. However, Hong Kong finished bottom of their group table in round one.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe were very close to qualifying for the Super 10 stage as they finished at the 2nd position in their group table. They were on equal points with the Netherlands but were behind on the net run-rate.
