The Associates members of ICC, barring Afghanistan, has bid adieu the 2016 World T20. These countries played their game at Dharamshala where it rained for most matches and as a result, their chance to qualify for Super 10 was spoiled.
ICC associate nations qualified for ICC World T20 after playing a qualification tournament in Scotland and Ireland. But, ICC conducted a re-qualifying tournament in India for low ranked Zimbabwe and Bangladesh along with other Associate nations.
ICC’s this process ridiculed Associate nations. Ireland’s matches were marred by rain while Netherlands’ one match wash out due to torrential rain. Their last match against Ireland was almost a washout out but a six over match was played.
Now, New Zealand defeated India at Nagpur in the tournament opener as a result India lost points. So, Netherlands cricketer Wesley Barresi trolled BCCI and said if India had played at Dharamshala they could easily get one point as rain would not allow the match to happen.
It was a big disappointment for Netherlands as all their hard work was buried due to rain. They were the joint champions of the ICC’s World T20 qualifying round.
Back to the game where New Zealand batting first scored 126. India commencing their chase were clueless against the New Zealand spinners on a sticky wicket. It amazed one and all as Indians are known as good batsmen of spinners. But, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson played with three spinners. Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi and Nathan McCullum bamboozled India, who folded up for mere 79.
Here is the tweet that ridiculed team India:
