Youngsters To Get More International Exposure, Says Chief Selector MSK Prasad

Team India has set its eyes on the 2019 Cricket World Cup which is set to be held in England. It’s no secret that the current team in a sort of transition phase where senior names are facing a challenge from younger names in the squad.
As a result, the selection committee is facing some really tough time maintaining the balance of experience and youth in the team while also justifying their ideas and experiments to the fans and the media.
Young players to get more opportunities
Chairman of selectors MSK Prasad has announced that the youngsters will get more chances to prove their abilities in the run-up to the 2019 mega event. This move is being taken in a bid to expose them to some international experience.
“Such a move would make sure that the new players can acquire skills and gain experience by featuring in some 40 to 50 matches by the time the World Cup is held,” MSK Prasad said during a chat with reporters after visiting the famous Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirumala.
Selectors’ vision quite evident
The selection committee looks on the right path in terms of future planning. Hardik Pandya, the seam bowling all-rounder, has emerged as the biggest star in recent times as a result of the faith shown by the selectors. After entering as a rookie, Pandya has now established himself as the first choice all-rounder in the team.
Next in line are the highly promising duo of chinaman Kuldeep Yadav and opener Rishabh Pant. The two young individuals seem to be perfect fit according to the scheme of things at present. Kuldeep made his international debut earlier this year while Pant is currently a part of the squad which in West Indies for the limited overs series.
Champions Trophy Loss
MSK Prasad also spoke about India’s loss to Pakistan in the finals of the Champions Trophy 2017. Prasad stated that the team must remain optimistic instead of getting bogged down by the negatives.
“It is unfortunate that the team lost the final. Overall, we did well. We must take positives from the tournament and look to correct the mistakes with an eye on the next World Cup,” he said.
“BCCI would plan an all-round strategy for the team after identifying the shortcomings,” Prasad said.
