Yuvraj Singh scored 5 runs in the quarter-finals match against Himachal Pradesh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match yesterday. Punjab was put into bat but lost 2 early wickets of Jiwanjot Singh and Pargat Singh.
Mandeep scored a century and maintained his composure as Yuvraj Singh and Gurkeerat Singh Mann got out cheaply. Mandeep scored 119 off 145 balls. Mandeep Singh got great support from Gitansh Khera who scored 23 and Harbhajan Singh scoring 25. By the time Mandeep Singh got out he had put Punjab in a great position. Punjab scored 263 for 8 in 50 overs.
Chasing 264 Himachal Pradesh lost two wickets inside the first six overs against a spirited pace bowling attack. HP was struggling at 77 for 3 in 22 over’s, but Bist managed to steady the innings scoring 109 off 135 balls including nine fours.
Bist and Rishi Dhawan put on 102 runs for the fourth wicket that came a run ball. Himachal Pradesh needed 85 off 66 balls and Bist played a match winning knock. His knock helped Himachal Pradesh to bring his maiden List A century and help his team reach the semi-finals of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Yuvraj Singh, after an excellent group stage, failed to perform when the team required him to play a special innings.
