‘Yuvraj Singh Has Already Set A Benchmark By Making So Many Comebacks’

If the first-half of Yuvraj Singh’s career was about becoming one of India’s finest limited-overs batsmen with consistent displays, the second-half was all about comebacks. Right from the time he was diagnosed with cancer, the Punjab ace has been making comebacks and just like the rest of his career, he has come out with flying colors on most of the occasions. And continuing the trend, the left-handed batsman once again left everyone mighty impressed when he scored a career-best 150 in the second ODI against England at Cuttack on Thursday.

But the 35-year-old, it seems, is not eyeing to make any further comebacks at least his mother suggests so.

Speaking to The Times of India, Shabnam Singh said:

“Yuvraj has already set a bench mark by making so many comebacks. Right now, he wants to continue doing a good job and win the Champions Trophy for India without thinking too much about comebacks.”

“Our guru ji Sant Baba Ajit Singhji and Sant Baba Ram Singhji are Yuvi’s real heroes. They told him not to give up and keep working hard. It worked like a magic for him. I am always confident about his ability and the blessings of our guruji helped him to strengthen his will-power,”  she added.

Playing his first ODI after 2013, the southpaw was looking in good touch in the first game in Pune when he began with two fours and a maximum. However, he could score only 15 but his mother insisted the batsman was confident of turning things around despite the setback in the first game.

“Even after the Pune game where he couldn’t score big, he stayed positive and knew his time would come. And after the Cuttack game, he was ecstatic. He is very strong from inside and was very happy with what he could do for India,” Yuvraj’s mother said.

Another question that has been doing the rounds was how did the World Cup hero managed to keep himself fit despite the marriage functions.

And when his mother was asked about it, she said:

“Yuvi was playing well from the very start of the season. Even during the social engagements, he didn’t miss much of training sessions. It’s his fitness regime that helped him to stay in shape for the challenges.”
