Yuvraj Singh has dropped words of praise for India’s Test captain Virat Kohli and his side over their performance in the ongoing Test series against England at home.
The World Cup winning all-rounder is currently captaining Punjab in the Ranji Trophy and is having some good time at the crease. Being a part for five matches so far, the southpaw has scored 672 runs at an impressive average of 84.00.
In an exclusive interview with The Telegraph, the 34-year-old talked about Kohli and his will to make a comeback in the Indian squad once again. When asked about the change in the flamboyant batsman after the 2011 World Cup win, Yuvraj said he (Virat) has grown into a very fine batsman.
“Virat was a kid then… He’s mature now and has grown into a very fine batsman. He’s hit a good patch and this is the time for him to take India forward.”
Further, he added he is closely following the India-England series and believes that India should not take the opposition lightly in-spite of their good run in the longest format.
“The team’s doing really well, away and at home. But England are tougher than the other teams we’ve faced this season,” Yuvraj added.
Admitting to the fact that he has still got lot left in him to offer, Yuvraj said he is happy scoring runs in the Ranji Trophy.
“I am still motivated. I got a career-best 260 just weeks ago. I’m not through with the game.”
Yuvraj Singh last represented India in the quarter-final match against Australia during the World T20 tournament in March 2016.
