There is finally some good news for Yuvraj Singh fans. One of the finest limited-overs batsmen to play for the country, Yuvraj is currently out of the team after a string of poor performances. As India is doing fine in the limited-overs format, chances were looking bleak for him to make a comeback. However, according to media reports the southpaw is contention to make a sensational return to the Indian team.
Yuvraj, who last played for India earlier this year in the T20 World Cup, has been reportedly asked to undergo a fitness test at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore on Wednesday. According to reports in AAJ Tak, Yuvraj along with out of favour opener Gautam Gambhir are in the plans of India coach Anil Kumble. While Gambhir has been declared fit after undergoing a fitness test at NCA, Yuvraj will learn his fate tomorrow. Reports are suggesting that the stylish left-hander can be included in the limited-overs squad for the series against New Zealand.
Yuvraj played alongside Kumble for the Indian team and so speculations are rife that he can get another chance to prove his worth. The Indian coach had also met Yuvraj on the sidelines of Duleep Trophy in Greater Noida and had asked him to be prepared mentally and physically.A proven match-winner, Yuvraj was recalled to the Indian team earlier this year and played a series in Australia, followed by the T20s against Sri Lanka, the Asia Cup and World T20. However, he struggled to score enough runs and was dropped from the T20 squad for the series against West Indies. With Suresh Raina also out of the team, it is possible that the team management is looking for an experienced batsman for the middle order and so Yuvraj can get the nod to don the Indian jersey once again.
