Yuvraj Singh Praises Manan Vohra For His Fighting Knock

Yuvraj Singh, the veteran all-rounder, heaped praises for the young talent Manan Vohra for his spectacular knock of 95 runs which helped Kings Xi Punjab to almost take away the match from Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Vohra, whose knock included 9 fours and five sixes, was the only brimming hope for Punjab as SRH bowlers gained an upper hand over Punjab.

After being asked to chase 160 by SRH, the Punjab side lost Hashim Amla for a golden duck off the first ball in the second innings by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Things went worse in the 3rd over when Bhuvi snapped up Glenn Maxwell, their batting pillar, for just 10 runs and sent shock waves in Kings XI Punjab camp.

The SRH bowlers continued to tighten the string. Spinners Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan, the star Afghan duo, managed to break the spine of the batting order by removing Eoin Morgan, David Millar and Wriddhiman Saha in short successions. KIXP, at the half way stage, found itself reeling at 62/5 and opener Manan Vohra was left to fight back alone.

The youngster did a wonderful job and responded to the pressure situation with maturity and kept the chase alive until the penultimate overs before losing his wicket just five runs short of an IPL century.

The right-hander batted well with lower order batsmen – Axar Patel and Mohit Sharma, keeping the majority of the strike with him. His cautious yet counter-attacking effort brought the equation down to 16 runs off 12 balls.

Unfortunately, the ever evolving swing bowler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled a magnificent 19th over which saw him pick two wickets for just 5 runs; one victim out of the two was Vohra.

Vohra departed with loud applause but his hard work went down the drain as the tail-enders failed to get the required 11 runs to win off Sandeep Sharma’s last over.

Everyone was raving about Vohra and his batting heroics. He almost got his team close to winning the match, all on his own. Unfortunately, Bhuvneshwar Kumar stole his thunder and walked away with a victory for his team and also grabbed the Man of the Match award for his five-wicket haul.

Here is what Yuvraj Singh Tweeted:

“What a game @ImMananVohra almost took it away from us very happy for him and to see him bat like that but we had @BhuviOfficial death king.”
