Zimbabwe will host Netherlands in Harare for a three-match ODI series scheduled to begin from 27th September. All the matches will be played at the Harare sports club on 27th, 29th September and 1st October. Zimbabwe toured Netherlands in June this year where the African nation won the series 2-1.
Zimbabwe has made just one change to their side which visited Netherlands. Regis Chakbva has been included in the team after a gap of two years. Chakabva last played for Zimbabwe against Bangladesh in 2015. However, this series will not be categorised as an ODI series as Netherland’s do not have an ODI status.
Former Zimbabwean fast bowler and present head coach of the team, Heath Streak has said that underestimating Netherland can cost his side as the Dutch’s have improved their game in the recent past. The Dutch have appeared in four 50 over World Cups, i.e. 1996, 2003, 2007 and 2011.
One of the biggest achievements for the Netherlands side has been their victory over England in the 2009 World T20 in England.
Heath Streak said:
“It’s not an official ODI series, but we will not take the Dutch lightly. We will try to win every game, but what’s important is that we will give our guys time in the middle ahead of tougher assignments.
“These are 50-over matches, but they will give us good practice as we are gearing our preparations towards the Test series at home to the West Indies next month.”
