Cricket’s newest sensation Afghanistan has been given the green signal to tour Zimbabwe for five-match ODI series in February. The side, who recently defeated Ireland to win the inaugural Desert T20 Challenge, will be touring a Test playing nation for the second time in a bilateral tie, after touring Bangladesh last year.
Zimbabwe, currently ranked eleventh, one after Afghanistan in the Reliance ICC ODI Rankings, last hosted West Indies and Sri Lanka in a Tri-Series in November. The hosts, however, booked the date with Sri Lanka in the finals, but unfortunately lost it by six wickets.
Afghanistan, who will land in Zimbabwe on February 13, will play the first match in Harare on February 16. In their last encounter, Afghanistan won the three-match series 2-1 before going down 2-1 against Bangladesh last year.
This time, all the matches will be held in Harare, as they are scheduled to take place on 16, 19, 21, 24 and 26.
