English coach Roy Hodgson has released his 23 men squad who will take the field representing the Three Lions in the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. This is also the last chance for England’s star players Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard to help their country win a silverware before they retire.
There was no surprises in the squad that is led by Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. England face a tough group stages as they are pitted in the Group of Death along with Uruguay, Italy and Costa Rica. England need to play out of their skins to get through to the next round.
Here is the 23 men who will be donning the England squad in the World Cup.
Defenders: Leighton Baines (Everton), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Phil Jagielka (England), Glen Johnson (Liverpool), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Luke Shaw (Southampton), Chris Smalling (Manchester United).
Midfielders: Ross Barkley (Everton), Steven Gerrard (Liverpool), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Adam Lallana (Southampton), Frank Lampard (Chelsea), James Milner (Manchester City), Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (Arsenal), Raheem Sterling (Liverpool), Jack Wilshere (Arsenal).
England begin their campaign against Italy on June 14 followed by Uruguay and Costa Rica on June 19 and June 24 respectively.
