4-3-3 or 3-4-2-1? Man City Predicted Lineup To Face Celtic In Champions League

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City were humiliated on their home turf in an ugly encounter against Chelsea at the weekend. The Blues moved to the top of the table, pushing City to the 4th place and the manager will hope that his side can turn things around quickly and compete at the top of the table this season. But he will now have to turn his attention towards the Champions League group stage encounter against Celtic this week. City have all but qualified to the next round of the competition but will hope to take maximum points from this game with Guardiola expected to play a strong starting XI. Here is the predicted lineup he might face for this game against Manchester City.

Team News:

The manager does not have too many injuries to worry about with skipper Vincent Kompany as the only player who might miss out on this game through injury. Midfielder Fernandinho was sent off in the previous game of this competition and will not be available for this game. Winger Raheem Sterling missed the Chelsea game through fitness issues but he might be back in action for this game.

Formation: 4-3-3

Claudio Barvo:

The first choice shot stopper for Manchester City, Bravo, should keep his place in the side for this game against Celtic.

Bacary Sagna:

The former Arsenal man, was an unused substitute in the loss over Chelsea but should be back in action for this game against Celtic.

John Stones:

After a forgettable day at the weekend against Chelsea, Stones, who was a part of the back-3 for City that night will occupy one of two central defenders position for this encounter.

Nicolas Otamendi:

Missing the next league game through suspension, Otamendi, who has been decent recently, should start alongside Stones for this game against Basel.

Aleksandar Kolarov:

Though failed to have an impact as a part of the back-3 against Chelsea, Kolarov, is one of the most consistent defenders for the side and will start this game at left-back.

Fernando:

In absence of his Brazilian counterpart through suspension, Fernando, who has already been used in this position, will start in the midfield for Chelsea.

Ilkay Gundogan:

VfL Borussia Moenchengladbach v Manchester City FC - UEFA Champions League

The former Dortmund man has shown what he is capable of doing for the side from midfield and should start this game against Basel.

David Silva:

The Spaniard has been excellent in a more withdrawn role this season for City and should start in a similar position in this game against Basel.

Nolito:

After missing out on the matchday squad against Chelsea, Nolito, should be back in action this week in this group stage Champions League encounter.

Jesus Navas:

Raheem Sterling is still to be assessed and Navas seems to be the best possible option for City on the wing for this game against Basel.

Sergio Aguero:

The Argentine is not available for selection in the league for another 4 games making this Champions League game his penultimate game this year.
