Arsenal fans can finally heave a sigh of relief after reports of the English club agreeing on deals to sign Deportivo striker Lucas Perez and Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi are doing the rounds.
The Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is reportedly ready to splash out more than £50million on the duo before the transfer deadline.
According to reports in Daily Mail, the North London club have had bids accepted on both players and are confident of clinching the deals before the transfer window closes on Wednesday. The players are reportedly ready to undergo medicals on Friday.
The Gunners were under a lot of pressure for their failure to secure the signings after being linked with Mustafi throughout the summer. Desperate to bolster their injury-ravaged defence and limited forward line, an agreement has finally been reached to bring in two of La Liga’s top performers in 2015-16.
Arsenal initially wanted to sign Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy but after he signed a new deal with the Foxes, Perez became one of the targets. He impressed last season in the La Liga where he scored 17 goals and was scouted several times by Arsenal.
An offer of £17 millions was accepted by Deportivo on Friday for the forward’s transfer to the Emirates. The La Liga outfit confirmed on Thursday night that Perez has been given permission to miss Friday’s match against Real Betis.
German international Mustafi will follow Perez to Arsenal after Valencia accepted an offer of £35 million for the centre-back.
These two signings will see Wenger taking his summer spending close to £100 million following the signings of Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding, Takuma Asano and Kelechi Nwakali.
