With 44 points from 21 games so far this season, Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are currently in the 4th place in the points table and the manager will know that his team will have to be at their best for the rest of the season to stand a genuine shot at the league title.
The manager is not really known for spending big in transfer windows so it does not come as a surprise that Wenger is busy in trying to tie players in his squad to long term contracts.
But the manager seems to have decided on who he wants at the club in the future and one player who does not make the cut is English midfielder Jack Wilshere.
The 25-year old came through the ranks of Arsenal as a teenager and made his debut at the age of 16, and till date stands as the youngest debutant for Arsenal in the Premier League.
He has in the past cemented a place in the starting XI at the club but having failed to find consistency in the last couple of seasons, he has fallen out of favor at the Emirates.
He slipped out of the plans of the manager for the current season and was sent out on loan to the Dean Court to play for Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth side, where he has been decent so far this season.
He has got some regular game time under his belt this season and is slowly showing some signs of his previous form but he has not attracted any kind of a reaction from his manager.
Wilshere will not stay with Bournemouth at the end of the season and should return to the Emirates will just a year left on his contract.
So Wenger should decide if he wants to offer him a new contract and keep him at the club for the next few seasons.
But with the likes of Xhaka, Coquelin, Ramsey and Elneny all putting in decent performances this season, Wilshere might have no place at the Emirates anymore.
So it does not come as a surprise that Italian giants AC Milan are desperate for his signature at the end of the season. According to Calciomercato, the Italian outfit are ready to bid for him in the summer transfer window this year.
The San Siro outfit were linked with a move for the midfielder even in the summer but Wenger decided to keep the player in England and sent him to Bournemouth.
However, with AC Milan still interested, Wenger might be tempted to cash in on the 25-year old at the end of the season.
Wilshere is no closer to a new contract with Arsenal and Bournemouth might not be able to afford him in full leaving AC Milan as a decent option for the midfielder.
Do you think Arsenal should sell Wilshere to Milan at the end of the season?
