Adam Johnson to undergo trial on Friday

  • Adam Johnson out on bail till sentencing

The England and Sunderland player has self-confessed that he had once sex commotion with a fifteen-year-old girl, claims The Guardian. He admitted to the allegations that he once kissed the girl, attached with the gossip, after acquainting with her through the internet. However, he has denied the other accusations that the duo had physical commotions twice after that. The midfielder is to undergo a trial on Friday.

The 28-year-old midfielder was arrested on 2 March 2016, but was released after he demanded for a bail. This also caused the club to lift off his suspension as well.

He then helped his side battle it out in the end of the season, and the club helped themselves from avoiding the relegation. They finished 16th in the Premier league with three points saving them from the fall.

However, this season, he has been enduring a tough life at the Stadium of light, through injury and lack of form, as he has scored only twice across all competitions in the entire season. One of those goals came against Liverpool last Saturday.

Adam Johnson voiced “guilty” when the charges were read to him by the Court.

The Judge Jonathan Rose emphasized to the panel of prospective jurors that the law should take this case in the right manner, with genuine and accurate conclusion, forgetting what the media reports about the footballer.

“This is a case you may see referred to in the press.” The judge spoke. “Mr Johnson is a professional footballer with Sunderland AFC and you may see something about it in the newspaper. But let me just remind you of the oath and affirmation you have just received. You must try this defendant on the evidence heard in this courtroom, not anything else. That is very important.”

Adam Johnson has won a Premier League and FA Cup with Manchester City, but have not any silverware to show after joining Sunderland in 2012 for a reported fee of 10 million Euros.
