Liverpool have been dealt with another injury setback after Danny Ings has been ruled out for rest of the season with a cruciate ligament injury. The news comes 24 hours after Joe Gomez was ruled out with the same injury.
According to initial reports, Ings came back to Liverpool camp after representing England during their Euro 2016 qualifying campaign. There were no reports of an injury until the striker took part in Jurgen Klopp’s first training session.
Klopp had addressed the media ahead of their game against Spurs and there were no mention of Ings being injured. Klopp did stress on Roberto Firmino, Christian Benteke and Joe Gomez missing out the weekend clash, however, there was no mention of Ings.
It does seem as if the injury happened while Klopp ended Day 1 training with his complete squad. Now Liverpool are left with Daniel Sturridge as their main striker with Divock Origi as the only fit back-up, however, the Belgian is largely untried in the Premier League.
Klopp will have to show his genius in his very first game as he has a squad filled with injuries to chose his playong XI from. Apart from Gomez and Ings, Jordan Henderson is also ruled out for several weeks.
