Argentine commanding center back Nicolas Otamendi’s agent has flown out to seal his client’s move to Manchester United according to the reports.
Manchester United have been linked heavily with the Valencia center back this season and have reportedly personal terms with the player.
But the move is getting delayed as the clubs are yet to agree on a fee for the 27 year old Argentine stopper.
However, with the news that Otamendi has apparently gone on strike to force a move to Old Trafford, AS says the player’s agent has flown out to seal a switch to United.
The Spanish newspaper says meetings will take place in the next few days, while Manchester City have also been linked, United is the only realistic destination.
Otamendi has a release clause set at £35.5million but United hope to get him for a cheaper price.
Manchester United’s defence had performed poorly last season and made many defensive errors but goalkeeper David De Gea’s sublime form under the post helped them concede less goals.
Red Devils saw their center back pair changing frequently and Louis Van Gaal wants to bring the in form Argentine to Old Trafford to sort out his team’s defensive lapses.
Manchester United are on a spending spree now and have signed four players in the form of Memphis Depay, Matteo Darmian, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin and many more big names are still linked with the club.
Now reports are saying Ramos is going to sign a new contract and he has been assigned as captain of the Los Blancos after the departure of Iker Casillas. Manchester United are therefore shifted their focus back to the Argentine again.
Otamendi’s transfer is one of the most imminent transfers in this window and the deal is looking to be finalised in the coming weeks.
