According to few reports emerging from Times of India, AC Milan legend Alessandro Nesta has signed for Chennaiyin FC for the rest of the Indian Super League season. The Italian defender has been roped into the side after Colombian striker John Stiven Mendoza was ruled out for the rest of the ISL campaign. The 38-year-old is likely to join the Chennai side after December 5. 

Chennai had been on the lookout for a replacement for Mendoza who suffered a hamstring injury in the game against FC Pune City last Wednesday. The 22-year-old returned to Colombia to recover from his injury. The deal with Nesta was inked on November 23 after Chennai’s away game against Mumbai. Nesta will be arriving in India after playing a legends of the game in Bangkok on December 5. The Italian has played for AC Milan between 2002 and 2012. He has made 78 international appearances for his country and was part of the Italian 2006 World Cup winning squad.
