Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal are facing quite a few issues currently this season.
They are in the sixth place in the points table, and though they have a chance to qualify for Europe next season, they will have to play out of their skins to do so.
They are also having problems keeping star players in the squad for the next season as the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are yet to sign a new deal with the club.
The German playmaker may yet sign a new deal but the Chilean star has given up on Arsenal by the looks of it.
Speaking to the media recently, Sanchez though revealed that he is currently happy with his situation with Arsenal and that he is not yet ready to quit the club at least this season.
However, he also went on to say that he would like to stay in London and that he may even let his contract with Arsenal run its course.
“I am happy in London and I hope to finish my contract at Arsenal,” Sanchez said.
“I want to stay in a winning team and keep playing in the same city.
“I want to play in a team that has aspirations.
“I’m 28 years old, I still have a lot ahead of me.
“I am a player who takes great care of himself,” he added.
Sanchez’s contract at Arsenal runs out at the end of the next season and though he insists he is happy, Arsenal may be tempted to sell, especially with clubs ready to offer north of £50m for his services this summer.
Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are on the lookout for attackers this summer and have identified Sanchez as a possible replacement but it must be seen if Wenger is ready to let him join their local rivals in the window.
The manager also spoke about future of both Ozil and Sanchez and felt that they want to stay at the club.
“I personally believe both of them want to stay and I hope the club will find an agreement with them,” said Wenger in a recent interview.
The 67-year old manager was asked about Sanchez’ comments about London and Wenger managed to take it in a positive way.
“Alexis said he wants to win the championship, that’s what everybody wants,” added Wenger.
It will be interesting to see how this story turns out in the future.
