Arsenal target Omer Toprak has hinted he could make his move from Bayer Leverkusen before the deadline day on Wednesday.
The Turkish midfielder is on Arsene Wenger’s radar as in search of a new centre back.
German defender Shkodran Mustafi has already sealed his move to the Emirates despite Valencia’s £50m value initially appeared to have killed that deal.
However, 27-year-old Toprak has claimed his future could be away from the Bundesliga.
“It is not certain whether I will stay at Bayer Leverkusen. We still have a month and anything could happen until then.” Toprak told Turkish-Football.com.
Gunners were in desperate need of a defensive reinforcement as Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista ruled out for a long period. Now it seems Wenger wants another defender despite signing Mustafi as he considers the persistent injury crisis.
Toprak, The German-born defender, who has 23 caps for Turkey, has been an ever-present for Leverkusen over the past five seasons, appearing 170 times in all competitions, scoring six goals.
Meanwhile, Arsenal have completed another signing, Deportivo La Coruna’s highly-rated striker Lucas Perez for £17million. The Spaniard has already arrived in London and is expected to start training with Arsenal from tomorrow.
Latest reports are claiming that Arsenal will make the official announcement of both the signing of Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi tomorrow.
