According to the Online Soccer Odds Spain are one of the favorites to win the Euro 2016, however, they received a body blow earlier today when Real Madrid star Dani Carvajal was ruled out of the competition after his hamstring injury.
Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin has been picked as the replacement for injured Carvajal. Bellerin will have to cut short his holidays and team up with his international colleagues later this week as Spain begin their preparations in France.
Bellerin will be expected to feature from the start for Vicente Del Bosque’s side with Juanfran as the back-up option. While the opportunity may have come at the right time for Bellerin after a successful season with Arsenal, but some of Gunners supporters aren’t too happy with it.
Back in 2012 when Spain won the last European Championship, Fabregas was constantly linked with a move to Camp Nou. And it was during Spain’s trophy celebration when Fabregas was forced to wear a Barcelona jersey by Pepe Reina and was declared as the future of Barcelona and Spain.
However, that move did nor work well for Fabregas as he is now back in Premier League playing for Chelsea. However, with Bellerin joining Spain’s national setup, he will be amongst the Barcelona players who could influence him in to making a move to La Liga next season.
According to reports, Dani Alves is strongly linked with a move to Juventus which would force Luis Enrique to look for a new right-back. That search has led Catalans giants to Bellerin, who is Spaniard and one of the best right-backs in the game right now.
Barcelona will do well in persuading Bellerin away from Emirates who sounded his intent to stay put despite the strong rumours. However, we have seen players in the past (specially Spanish players) get their head turned away after a brief spell with their International colleagues.
If that happens, Arsenal may not recover from the blow as they are looking to strengthen their midfield and attack ahead of an important season. However, if Bellerin decides to move on, Arsene Wenger may need to look for a new defender which would set Arsenal back in their hopes of winning the league title next season.
As for Spain, they will do their chances of winning the Euro 2016 no harm as Bellerin will be an able replacement for Carvajal who would hope to kick-start the 2016/17 season on a high after recovering from his hamstring injury.
