Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Monaco winger Thomas Lemar, according to reports. However, the Gunners are yet to negotiate over a transfer fee with the French champions.
Lemar- Top Class Winger
The young Frenchman is one of the best young wingers in the world at the moment. Since moving to Monaco a couple of seasons ago, the 21-year old has developed his game well and is a menace on the left wing.
Arsene Wenger is a huge admirer of Lemar and is desperate to sign him for Arsenal this summer. He is one of the most important players for Monaco last season. He managed an impressive 14 goals and 17 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions.
According to The Sun, Arsenal have agreed personal terms with Thomas Lemar after willing to offer £90,000-a-week wages in a long term deal. The wages are a significant rise from the pay he receives at Monaco.
However, the major stumbling block for the deal to happen is the transfer fee involved. Arsenal are way off the evaluation of Monaco as the French club want a staggering £80m to let him leave for Emirates this summer.
The Gunners have started negotiations with an opening bid of £30m, which was rejected. They have also launched a second bid worth £40m to lure Monaco but the champions rebuffed the interest from the Premier League giants.
Lemar still has three years left in his contract with Monaco and the exciting winger is reluctant to commit his future to the club and is keen with the interest from Arsenal, according to French media outlet L’Equipe.
Marquee Signing And Replacement For Sanchez
The youngster is definitely one of the best talents in France and would be a huge signing in intent. However, Arsenal would be keen to strike a deal within a considerable range as £80m was way big in the current crazy transfer market.
However, the most important thing is that he could be as good a menace Alexis Sanchez has ever been in the Premier League. Still at 21, Lemar has still got his prime years ahead of him which makes him exciting signing for Gunners.
He would fit into the role of Sanchez right away and would be ideal partner for his fellow countrymen Olivier Giroud or Alexandre Lacazette, whoever plays as a central striker.
