Since the dawn of this season, Arsenal and Manchester United are struggling with their form and this is majorly because of the injury apocalypse which has victimized many of their key players. Currently 9 Manchester United and 8 Arsenal players are sidelined because of injuries and few of them are severely injured.

Let us understand what would have been their condition without these injuries.

Arsenal:

Arsenal commenced their summer window with the signing of the former German National Team physio Shad Forsyth in order to tackle their major problem that was injuries. But this signing did not help them in avoiding the injuries and the problems continued. This season many of their vital players are injured and some of them were irreplaceable and very important for the team.

Mesut Ozil is sidelined with a major knee injury since past two months and will take five more weeks to recover. Mesut Ozil was expected to have an excellent chemistry with their latest signing Alexis Sanchez. Ever since Ozil is injured the Arsenal’s midfield has become unstable and hence they lack creativity in the midfield area.

Another key player who is seriously injured is Mathieu Debuchy. Debuchy joined Arsenal in the summer of 2014 and is left out due to injury since past two and a half months. Whereas Laurent Koscielny was also injured but has recovered now. Due to these injuries Arsenal’s defense was badly disturbed and they conceded many sloppy goals in the first half of the season. During this phase, Nacho Monreal played as been made a center-back which caused serious instability in the back four.

Some other players like David Ospina, Wojciech Szczesny, Mikel Arteta, Serge Gnabry, Theo Walcott, Jack Wilshere and Abou Diaby are also in the injury list.

This lineup clearly shows that most of the key players are injured. Hence Arsenal’s condition, along with their table standing in the league, could and can be much better with these players.

Manchester United:

Injury wise Manchester United’s condition is as worse as Arsenal’s but it is not really reflected on the pitch as they are 4th in the table just one point below Southampton. Just like the gunners many key red devils are also injured and most of them are defenders.

Man United are conceding goals for fun and the major reason behind this is a disrupted back four. Van Gaal splashed some of his allotted cash for signing the Argentine Marcos Rojo and English wonder kid Luke Shaw. Other injured defenders are Phil Jones and Rafael. These four formed the main back four of Man united and are sidelined since a long time, hence clumsy defending.

Latest players added in the injury pit are Angel Di Maria, Wayne Rooney and Daley Blind. Blind was back bone in the midfield whereas Rooney was the captain. According to latest reports Rooney is given an ok to face Southampton in their upcoming fixture and will be fine in few days.

The Argentine talisman Angle Di Maria is out because of hamstring injury and is still under examination. This injury is a major blow for Louis’s men as Di Maria is their main playmaker and leading assist maker. This void is currently filled by Juan Mata who is doing reasonably good in this role.

Other injured united players are Evans, Lingard and Thrope.

his lineup explains ever thing about Man United’s sloppy defending and also explains about few of the problems which they might face in the near future.
