Arsenal will monitor Eddie Howe’s progress as Bournemouth head coach because they are considering him as a potential replacement for under-pressure current boss Arsene Wenger.
The Cherries boss has thoroughly impressed with the job he has done with Premier League minnows and has even been touted as a future England coach.
Despite finishing second at England’s highest flight the Gunners were disappointed and bored, bored of consistency. Frustrated that Leicester City finished above them and see last season as an opportunity wasted.
Fans even made a banner reading: “Arsene, thanks for the memories but it’s time to say goodbye”
Wenger has entered the final 12 months of his existing deal and could finally call time on his career if he fails to land the Premier League title. Even though by his own admission, this season – and whether he can bring real success to the Emirates – will decide whether he gets a new contract.
While Howe’s style of football, determination to bring young players through and calm demeanour all fit Arsenal’s philosophy.
The 38-year old is seen as one of the most exciting manager in the Premier League after guiding the Cherries to the top flight via two promotions in three seasons.
And everybody is reportedly keen on how Howe performs this season after surviving the relegation battle last term.
With Wenger in the final year of his contract, a good performance might land Howe at the Emirates.
Another manager on Arsenal’s radar is reportedly Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel, who replaced now-Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp at the Bundesliga club in 2015.
