Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague stated that Arsenal cannot afford to sign their target Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.
He said that, Real Madrid will put aside any offer for their French asset which has blown off any lingering hope that Arsenal will sign Karim Benzema from Real Madrid this summer.
Balague voiced his update in an article on AS, which was mainly focused on Real Madrid’s hopes of signing Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea anytime soon.
According to Balague, Los Blancos are set to miss out on De Gea until next summer as they cannot financially afford it.
Man United are demanding €45 million for their Spanish shot stopper, and Real don’t have the funds at this stage to make that deal.
Balague considered whether Madrid could sell some of their assets in order to raise money for De Gea but he insisted that Real Madrid will not sell Benzema to raise funds for De Gea and Arsenal can forget about the Frenchman.
He also said, even if Real wants to sell Benzema, Arsene Wenger cannot afford to spalsh €50 or €60 million for the 27 yeard old talisman.
But AS perviously claimed earlier this week that Arsenal have €65 million available to bid on Benzema.
After such harsh statements, it will be interesting to see how the Gunners react to this.
