James Rodriguez’s agent Jorge Mendes has ended several Premier League clubs’ hopes of signing Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez. The Colombia international was heavily linked with Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea after falling out of favour at Real.

Jorge Mendes, Rodriguez’s agent, spoke to El Chiringuito last night and confirmed that the Colombian playmaker will stay with the Champion League winners.

“James Rodriguez will stay with Real Madrid. He will stay, that’s for sure,” he said.

James Rodriguez is set to stay at Real Madrid this season despite interest from other clubs

The Colombia international was linked with a move away from the Bernabeu earlier this summer after struggling to hold down a place in Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI. Zidane has preferred  Casemiro in the midfield, meaning that  James will not find the minutes that he wants very easily unless Toni Kroos or Luka Modric get injured.
However, he later claimed that he is keen to stay in the Spanish capital and fight for his place.

He said in July: “I’m going to stay with Real Madrid, I’m going to triumph here.”

The playmaker was also linked with Italian giants Juventus.
