Arsenal target and Colombian striker Jackson Martinez has opted to join AC Milan in the summer transfer window. This comes after F.C Porto’s club president Pinto da Costa confirmed this news to the media.
Accoring to Da Costa, AC Milan have moved ahead in Martinez’s race by agreeing to pay the release clause amount of €35million and Martinez has also agreed to join the Serie A giants.
This has come as a major blow to Arsenal’s hopes of signing the striker, who was heavily linked with the Gunners.
Earlier in the week, player’s agent had mentioned that a top side is ready to sign Martinez after agreeing terms with Jackson Martinez. As it turns out, the Colombian will be joining the Milan revolution after their recent takeover.
Da Costa has this to say to his former player: “This is what he wants, I just want him to be happy. AC Milan will pay the €35 million clause.”
AC Milan are signing a real goal machine as Martinez has finished as the top scorer in each of the three seasons he has been with F.C. Porto. Last season, he scored 31 goals in all competition including 8 in 9 UEFA Champions League games.
AC Milan are also linked with AS Monaco’s Geoffrey Kondogbia and are set to open talks with the player in coming days.
