A number of Premier League clubs are planning a squad overhaul this summer which will see a number of European stars play in the Premier League next season.
However, with not many quality players up for grabs in the summer, a number of clubs might fight for a single player come to the end of the summer transfer window.
One such transfer story that is starting to take shape is the Portuguese starlet Renato Sanches.
The 18-year old has been one of the most important players for the Portuguese franchise Benfica this season and has made 18 appearances for the club in all competitions.
He has also earned two caps with his national team and is regarded as the next best thing in the country after Cristiano Ronaldo.
And naturally, he has attracted a lot of interest from top clubs all around Europe.
Manchester United was reportedly in advanced talks with the midfielder earlier this season for a potential move in the summer but with no official word, it looks like Sanches is still up for grabs in the summer.
The 18-year old is in contract with Benfica up until 2021 and has a release clause worth £60m in his contract with the club.
This price will scare many potential suitors away but clubs like Bayern Munich, Southampton, and PSV Eindhoven are still hoping to get their man this summer.
And another English franchise in Arsenal are understood to be interested in the midfielder according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The report suggested that both Manchester United and Arsenal had scouts watching the youngster in action in Benfica’s 2-1 win at the Academia.
Sanches who was the man of the match on the night is represented by a popular Jorge Mendes who is also the agent of many a big star in Europe.
So pricing the youngster away from Benfica in the summer will not be easy but the Portuguese club might find it hard to reject an offer if the asking price is met.
Whatever the end result, this story is set to be one of the many fascinating ones that await us this summer.
