The search for a striker is Arsene Wenger’s worst nightmare this summer.
The two forwards at the club, Danny Welbeck (who is injured) and Olivier Giroud (who presumably is not good enough for Wenger) were not able to impress the manager in the last season and it is evident that they are out of favor next season as Wenger continues to search all over Europe for a top class striker.
Recent reports have suggested that the club may be close to striking a deal with Argentine striker Mauro Icardi but no official word is yet out on the rumor.
So it looks like the club will still be in the market for an attacking option and this has seen them linked with Lyon’s in-form striker Alexander Lacazette.
Arguably one of the most consistent strikers in Europe at the moment, Lacazette has been a great asset for the French side Lyon who have been able to keep him at the club in spite of interests from top European clubs last summer.
But his exploits in another season of League 1 has now seen more clubs move for him and the player may end up leaving France this summer.
So naturally, one of the first teams to be linked with his move is from London.
The 25-year old is a natural striker who will score goals in any league. He is strong, tall and still quick making him a great asset for clubs in the Premier League.
However, he is currently unsettled at the club and is looking to leave Lyon in search of a bigger challenge.
His quality has seen him linked with the likes of PSG as well but with desperation setting in at the Emirates, Wenger may well make a final approach for the Frenchman.
The 25-year old will cost any club who makes a move for him around the €50m mark which should not be a problem for both PSG and Arsenal and the Gunners will have to act quickly to get their man in this situation.
A lot of clubs will join the race for Lacazette’s signature if he is really up for sale this summer and it will be interesting to see how Wenger deals with this transfer come the end of the transfer window.
