Arsene Wenger is looking to sign Dynamo Kyiv winger Andriy Yarmolenko who is also a target for Everton. Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo claim that Arsenal has lodged an official inquiry for the player.
Yarmolenko has been at Ukranian side Dynamo Kyiv from 2007 and is also a regular Ukranian international. Jose Mourinho personally scouted him last year when he played for his national side against Spain.
The report from Mundo Deportivo says that Yarmolenko, who is also a target for Everton, Tottenham and BVB will cost Arsenal close to £30million including add-ons. The fee for him would be £20 million but contract demands and add-ons would cost Arsenal £30million.
Wenger is believed to be in the market for a striker but after Aubameyang’s snub, it is believed that he has switched his attention to Yarmolenko. Yarmolenko has already scored 13 goals this season and would be a quality signing for any team. Arsenal is in need of a winger due to injuries to key players and with the Gunners still competing for the Premier League, Champions League and the FA Cup, a new winger will be a vital addition.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez has admitted to having an interest and according to the Mail on Sunday, he is preparing a £21 million bid but if Arsenal step up their interest in the winger it would be tough for Everton to beat the gunners to his signature as the lure of winning the title and playing Champions League football would be tough to ignore. However, Arsene Wenger does not seem too keen on a new signing according to his recent comments – “I am confident I will not find a better player than Welbeck on the market.” Wenger also said that Welbeck is “2-3 weeks away” and if Arsenal is really keen on Yarmolenko then a summer move looks more likely.
Elsewhere, Sport Bild reports that Borussia Dortmund has made him their top target.
