Arsenal are one of the few clubs in the Premier League that are still desperate for additions to their squad from the previous season.
The likes of Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding will play their role in the journey next season but the manager still wants quality players to add some mettle to his team.
The club has been linked with almost every top class player up for sale this summer and the new name that has added to the list is Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez.
The Colombian international moved to Spain after his heroics in the FIFA World Cup with his national squad on a big money move and was impressive in his debut season.
However, since Zinedine Zidane took over the Bernabeu, Rodriguez has not been able to cement a place and has fallen out of favor.
The 25-year was not a part of Zidane’s team that won the UEFA Super Cup 3-2 against Sevilla on Tuesday and it is now understood that he wants to move away from the club this summer.
Marco Asensio, the attacking midfielder who burst onto the scene last season was superb in his recent outing against Sevilla and is expected to push the Colombian even further down the pecking order.
And it is now understood that Arsenal wants to give the 25-year old a chance to rebuild his career at the Emirates next season.
The Gunners who are not able to convince Leicester City to sell Riyad Mahrez this summer are now looking at the Real Madrid man as his replacement.
Though Rodriguez will cost on the higher side, Arsene Wenger recently revealed that he does not have a problem to spend money on stars who deserve it and it is now revealed that he is pondering over a move for the Colombian midfielder.
The likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil will also be hoping that the manager can complete a deal for the world-class attacking midfielder as he will add a different threat in an attack that can help them in the next season.
However, with the Premier League season set to start this weekend, Wenger will have to act quickly if he wants his new player to be available for the weekend. Do you think James Rodriguez will move to Arsenal this summer?
