Star midfielder all set to sign contract extension with Arsenal

  • A report from The Mirror claims, Arsenal are ready to offer their German play-maker Mesut Ozil a huge new contract.

Ozil has been in excellent form this term, with 10 assists in 11 league matches which include at least one assist in his last six back to back league encounters.

Both the achievements have already placed Ozil’s name in the Premier League record books, yet again justifying why Wenger desperately shelled out a club record fee to bring him from Real Madrid two years ago.

After contributing in Arsenal’s two FA Cup triumphs during his regime in North London, the maverick German is again on course to play a huge role in a possible, much awaited Premier League title win.

As a reward for his stunning form since the start of this season, the Gunners are said to be prepared for offering him a new lucrative contract extension. Interestingly Ozil’s current contract with Arsenal still has two-and-a-half years.

Wenger is planning to give the German maestro a new contract which would run until 2019 and it would also confirm Ozil plays out the majority his best years in Arsenal.

If this potential contact extension should happens, the former Real Madrid creator will join both Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla in extending their contracts this season, while plans are ready to offer Alexis Sanchez also a new contract, according to the Daily Star.

It appears to be a consolidating tactics Arsenal are following, bonding their major players with lucrative longer deals to give them a chance to grow at the North London side club for an extended period.

With Arsenal now fighting for the Premier League title, the risk of losing key players to big clubs like Manchester United, Barcelona and Manchester City as happened previously now appears much less dangerous.

Mesut Ozil has appeared for the Gunners 88 times in all competitions since joining the Gunners in 2013 from Real Madrid, netting 14 goals. He is now surely a fan’s favourite after two frustrating seasons and a front runner to win Arsenal’s player of the year award.
