Premier League giants Arsenal FC are reportedly ready to spend big again this summer, this time for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema as per the Sun’s report. The Gunners are ready to splash £40 million for the French striker who has apparently become out of favour at Santiago Bernabeu after newly appointed boss Rafa Benitez’s appointment.
Arsenal for long are suffering heavily due to a lack of a quality goal scorer. After Robin van Persie’s departure in 2012 to Manchester United, the club has unable to sign a marquee forward who can become a spearhead upfront. Olivier Giroud had joined the club in 2012 but has not lived upto the expectation. He is inconsistent and lacks firepower upfront. Also he is injury prone which make Arsenal suffer at the end.
Since the summer transfer window of 2013, Arsenal have started spending big. Their first makor signing was Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid and in the succeeding year they roped in Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona.
If media reports are to be believed, Arsene Wenger is once again preparing a heavy transfer move to rope in Karim Benzema this summer to bolster their sqaud.
Real Madrid have appointed a new manager in Rafael Benitez this season replacing Carlo Ancelotti. Benitez hinted a few days back that he would field either Gareth Bale or Cristiano Ronaldo in central role which automatically demotes Benzema to the reserve bench. A striker of Karim Benzema’s stature would never prefer Real Madrid bench over a first team opportunity in Premier League.
While any official confirmation is yet to recieve from the clubs, it is a strong speculation that the French forward might move out of Real Madrid this summer and Emirates stadium could be a possible destination.
