Arsenal star Theo Walcott has revealed he is unaware whether Arsene Wenger will continue as the manager next season.
The Gunners are in their worst form in recent times and were defeated by Bayern Munich by 10-2 on aggregate, their heaviest defeat in the history of European football.
The 27-year-old has revealed the players have let down the manager in the recent weeks despite Wenger taking blame for team’s losse. Even without their Bayern drubbing, Arsenal have recently lost to the likes of Watford, Chelsea and Liverpool in the Premier League and have lost their way in the title chase.
‘The players are like everybody else – we don’t really know what’s going on,’ Walcott told the London Evening Standard.
‘We just want to try to focus on the football. The manager is focused on us. You can see how passionate he is with us from the way he talks to us in the meetings.
‘He will take this on himself but us players need to look at ourselves. The manager has been taking a lot of flak in recent weeks and us players have been accepting it, but we can’t.
‘We need to take the pressure off the manager and that will happen by performances. Who knows what the manager will do? Players just want to play football for this club and do well for the manager.’
There have been so many speculations of Arsene Wenger leaving the club at the end of the season but it remains to be seen whether the Frenchman will sign a new deal that has been offered by the club that will see him a little longer at Emirates.
The situation could be much worse for Arsenal if Wenger decides to leave as he has been the controller of all aspects with in the club and has more influence on a club than any other top manager possesses at their respective clubs.
