Arsenal are heading into one of the most important transfer windows in recent times after the short comings of this season.
Long serving manager Arsene Wenger is on the verge of being sent out of the club but the Frenchman may have more to give to the Gunners who are slowly falling behind in the title race this season.
They will need to change certain aspects of their game and need to add some quality and depth to the squad before they can get closer to the title and the summer transfer window provides them with the perfect opportunity.
No matter who is in-charge of the club come this summer, there are a number of potential transfers that club might be involved in, in the transfer window.
And according to reports in France, the London franchise have reportedly made contact for a European defender ahead of a move in the summer.
Lorient defender Rafael Guerreiro is reportedly on the wish list for the Gunners for the next season and it is understood a contact has been made between the two parties.
The 22-year old who moved to the French outfit in 2013 has made 98 appearances for the club till date and is a versatile defender. He has been successful on either flanks at the back and will provide Arsenal some much needed cover at the back that they have been lacking this season.
The likes of Nacho Monreal have had their short comings and Wenger seems to have identified Geurreiro as the person to relieve his team of the problems at the back.
Le 10 Sport, the French newspaper outlet has reported that the Gunners have always been monitoring the status of the defender and with a move to the Premier League on cards for the 22-year old, Arsenal want to snatch him before the other clubs come calling.
However, Wenger will face immediate pressure from fellow Premier League outfit Liverpool who are also keen on the player who can solve the crisis at Anfield.
But it is understood that the relationship between the League 1 outfit and the French manager during the transfer of French star Laurent Koscielny is expected to play a part in the this transfer.
Do you think Guerreiro is the right person for the Emirates outfit?
