Manchester United were off to a great start to the Premier League campaign winning two out of two games at the start of the season.
His new summer signings have already managed to settle into the squad and have improved the quality and depth in the squad that will help Mourinho to challenge on all four fronts.
However, with the deadline day approaching, the manager will have to make sure that he gets rid of players who will not be a part of the squad in the new season.
One such player who is unsettled at the club at the moment is England international Phil Jones.
Having picked up an injury in the preseason, Jones has not been able to prove himself to Mourinho who is having him play with the U-23 squad to gain some fitness.
This unrest has seen the likes of Arsenal and Stoke City scout for him this summer. Reports revealed that the Gunners and the Potters were both interested in a move for Phil Jones and were even happy to take him on loan.
The lack of game time so far for the England international along with the performances of Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling and Daley Blind has seen the 24-year old ponder over a move away from Old Trafford but reports today have revealed that he might be staying at the club this season.
Manchester United and Jose Mourinho have now reportedly rejected any approaches for the defender and have revealed that he will play a decent role in Manchester United’s charge to glory in the new season.
It is not a bad move for Mourinho who will be active in 3 domestic competitions along with the Europe League. He will need all the depth he can take from the transfer window and the fact that he is still scouting for Jose Fonte from Southampton tells that he wants to have a strong defence going into the season.
Though Fonte’s arrival will push Jones down the pecking order, he is reportedly content at staying at the club and fighting for his place.
Do you think Manchester United need Phil Jones this season?
